Jr. High Football ~ Message to parents and fans...

Dear Junior High Football Parents and fans,

It is with much regret and sadness that I must inform all of you that AT THIS TIME we will not have any organized games against other schools.  Currently we have 7 young men on the roster.  We need 8 to field a team, and having a few extra would be desired.

Other schools in our league have been in the same situation before, most recently Lakeside.  But like Lakeside, we will continue to practice!  What is hoped is that some of the other young men who have currently decided to not play might change their mind.  We will practice as we have in the past.  This will still include hard work, team work to build esprit de corps, a study hall.  The skills necessary to play successful football later will be developed; stance, tackling, running with and without the ball, position work.  There are many games we can play to keep the athletes engaged, excited, and enthusiastic.

I personally hope that every football player continues to show his commitment.  With the small group of young men, we will still be able to demonstrate what ‘everyone else is missing.’  Further, by continuing to practice, we will prepare our team for next year when all the current members return (we have no 8th grade boy students) and a few more are coming up.  The skills we work on will improve all the players in many endeavors, and the spirit among them will greatly increase.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  I will gladly write you, talk with you, or visit you.  For the students that might need to get in some more physical activity, we will have a junior high wrestling team this year, with practice starting in late October.  No experience is necessary.  We all need to start from some point.  This will prove exciting for all the athletes, and the size of the wrestler or team does not matter.

Sincerely,

Jerry Brown

Information on SMS text messaging and Short Codes:

SMS stands for Short Message Service and is commonly referred to as a "text message". Most cell phones support this type of text messaging. Our notification provider, SchoolMessenger, uses a true SMS protocol developed by the telecommunications industry specifically for mass text messaging, referred to as “short code” texting. This method is fast, secure and highly reliable because it is strictly regulated by the wireless carriers and only allows access to approved providers. If you’ve ever sent a text vote for a TV show to a number like 46999, you have used short code texting.
